About NJ-TEC

The New Jersey-Television Educators Consortium is a broad based organization offering assistance to all teachers, not just those working in the field of television. In addition to educators, members of  NJ-TEC  include video professionals, technicians and production personnel.  Represented among its instructional ranks are teachers from K-12 schools, community colleges, universities, cable TV access stations, and municipal governments.

The support provided by NJ-TEC encompasses both the art and technology aspects of this  medium and is keyed to enhancing the educational experience for all students. To achieve this goal , NJ-TEC has created and maintains a communications network for the purpose of sharing information, ideas, projects and activities related to the field. Through its web site based monthly newsletter, members are provided with a broad range of instructional and managerial articles selected to address common as well as unique problems.

To further the educational element, NJ-TEC  hosts seminars and workshops to help the membership remain current with trends in the industry. Another facet of this matrix is the ability to cooperatively act as a problem solving mechanism for every member. Utilizing an e-mail network, an individual can be put in touch with the entire membership to address problems, convey employment issues, share ideas or to communicate information on important activities.

One of the most valuable educational tools that is being made available by NJ-TEC is the Speakers Bureau. Links have been created with major TV stations, industrial firms as well as independent producers. These links afford teachers from all over the state an opportunity to bring students and those currently active in this industry together. Many of these links offer studio tours, internships, tickets to shows, in addition to speakers.
